PetVille Beginners Guide

Introduction

PetVille is Zynga's latest offering that looks really similar to Playfish's Pet Society. Hmm... what a concidence? Ha. In this strategy guide, we will take a look at the basic of playing this game, how to earn coins faster, how to level up and other great PetVille's tips. As this is a relatively new game, I'll be updating this guide as new features and secrets are discovered. So, do check back frequently!

Objective of the Game

When I first played this game, I was at a loss as to what to do. I mean there seems to be no clear objectives. Unlike the other Zynga games like Cafeworld where you had to cook food and then serve to the customers to earn coins and experience or like in FishVille where the objective was to grow your fish and then sell to earn money, the objective of PetVille seems rather blurry. So what was I to do? Play with my pet? Play with my neighbour's pet? Buy stuffs for my pet?

It was a bit frustrating at first but after a while I finally realized what the objective of the game was. Like the other Zynga games, it was to level up your character/pet but the methods of doing it was a bit more subtle then the previous games. Basics

Create a pet - You first start the game by creating and customizing your pet. This is where you can let your creativity go wild. If you are short of creative juices though, you can click on the Mix It Up! button to let the game randomly generate a pet for you. After you are done, you can choose a name for your pet.

Cleaning your pet - The first thing you need to do after creating your pet is to give it a good scrub. Cleaning is an important activity in the game as it helps you to gain coins and experience (known as love) in PetVille. Grab the bar of soap on the floor and move it back and forth to clean your pet. You'll notice the blue bar at the top right of the screen filling up as you clean you pet. Once the bar is full, your pet is clean.



Dressing up your pet - The next thing you want to do is to dress up your pet. As mentioned in the game, you can't go without clothes! Ha. Just drag some clothings from the list and onto your pet. You can buy new and nicer clothing later in the game.

Visiting your neighbours - Visiting your neighbours allows your to play with their pet and also help them to clean up the place, these are all activities that help you to earn coins and love experience. You can choose from the following things to do: High Five, gossip, tickle, dance, kiss and handshake.

Feeding your pet - You also need to feed your pet to keep it alive! Ha. Just kidding about the alive part, though your pet will run away if you don't feed it often enough. Not to worry, if it does, you just have to pay the pound some coins to get it back. To feed your pet, click on the food bowl and choose your desired food. Each type of food cost a different amount of coins and will feed your pet for a certain amount of time. Once your pet finishes its food, you will get a prize. Generally speaking, the more expensive the food cost, the longer the time bonus and the greater the reward.

Customizing your pet's home - In Petville, you can also decorate your  pet's home. To do this, click on the world icon and choose Furniture store to buy things like sofa, television set, fireplace etc. If you want to change stuffs like the floor, walls, doors, windows, visit the Hardware Store instead.

Earning Petville coins - You can earn Petville money by doing the following activities: 1) Washing your pet, 2) Washing your neighbour's Pet, 3) Cleaning your neighbour's home, 4) Feeding your Pet and 5) Playing with your neighbour's Pet.
